Astro-Dictionary: Nanometer

A nanometer is one billionth of a meter (.000000001) and is a unit of measure for the wavelengths of different colors of light. Light also is measured in Angstroms (which are one-tenth of a nanometer), though the nanometer has recently come into widespread use. As an example, visible light has wavelengths between 400 and 700 nanometers.
